Reflexology
I have a Level 3 Reflexology Diploma fully accredited by ABC Awards and endorsed by the AoR which includes Anatomy & Physiology and Pathology. [Jubilee college] (GJC. Dip.Reflex.). I also have an AoR accredited Diploma in Enhancing Fertility, Maternity Care and Inducing Labour using Reflexology.

I am a full member of the Association of Reflexologists (MAR) and the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) as a Reflexologist.

What is Reflexology?

Foot reflexology is a simple, non-invasive method to help balance the body.

It has been described as a natural therapy that requires the application of a specific type of pressure on particular areas of the feet.

It is based on the principle that there are reflexes in the feet which correspond to every part of the body.

Following illness, stress, injury or disease, the body will be in a state of "imbalance", and vital energy pathways are blocked, preventing the body from functioning effectively. Reflexology can be used to restore and maintain the body's natural equilibrium and encourage healing.

A Western Reflexologist uses their fingers, thumbs and knuckles to apply pressure to the feet. For each person the application and the effect of the therapy is unique. Sensitive, trained hands can detect tiny deposits and imbalances in the feet, and by working on these points the Reflexologist can release blockages and restore the free flow of energy to the whole body. Tensions are eased, and circulation and elimination is improved. This gentle therapy encourages the body to heal itself, often counteracting a lifetime of misuse.

Since reflexology treats the whole person, not just the symptoms of disease, most people benefit from treatment.

Reflexology is suitable for:

  • Acute and chronic conditions
  • Sleep disorders
  • Preventative therapy
  • Stress related conditions (i.e. Migraine, fatigue)
  • High blood pressure
  • Muscular Skeletal conditions (i.e. FMS, Arthritis)
  • Allergies

    Treatment

On your first visit you will have a consultation before been made comfortable on the recliner chair. I will then begin the investigatory session working your feet, or hands if necessary, noting problem areas. There may be discomfort in some places, but it is an indication of congestion or imbalance in a corresponding part of the body. For the most part, the sensation is relaxing, pleasant and soothing.

Usually a treatment session lasts 45 minutes. A course of treatment varies in length depending on your body's needs. After the investigatory treatment I will discuss my findings and a treatment plan with you.

After the first treatment or two your body may respond in a very definite way: you may have a feeling of well-being and relaxation; or you may feel lethargic, nauseous or tearful, but this is transitory. It is, however, vital information for Reflexologists, as it shows how your body is responding to treatment.
